Turkish jets enter Greek air space after deal confirmed
Turkish fighter jets conducted a series of violations of Greek air space shortly after midnight on Tuesday, following Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and US President Donald Trump’s joint press conference in Washington, during which a deal to upgrade Greek F-16s was confirmed.
Two Turkish F-16s entered the Athens Flight Information Region at around 12.30 a.m. Greek fighter jets were dispatched to chase off the Turkish aircraft, in line with international rules of engagement. But, according to defense sources, Turkish responded by dispatching a CN-235 aircraft and a helicopter from a Turkish frigate in the area.
