234 refugees relocate from Athens to Lyon
A group of 234 refugees departed from Athens to Lyon, France, on Wednesday under the European Union’s relocation program which is co-implemented by the Greek office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The group included 190 individuals from Syria, 27 from Iraq, and 11 from the Palestinian authority.
In comments made at Athens International Airport, Migration Minister Yiannis Mouzalas said that a total of 22,000 asylum seekers had been relocated from Greece to other European nations over the past year and a half.
He said another 5,000 resettlements were pending.
