Parole board rejects appeal for release by Irianna
A five-member parole board on Monday rejected an appeal for release by a 29-year-old PhD student convicted of membership in an urban guerrilla group known for carrying out a series of letter-bomb attacks.
Irianna, as the student is known by the local media, requested release from custody so that she may continue her doctoral studies after arguing that her continued incarceration will “irreparably damage” her future career prospects.
The prosecutor who rejected the appeal said that the argument lacks merit as she can always complete her degree at a later date.
