Firefighters battle blaze in Achaia after large fire on Evia
Firefighters on Monday were seeking to douse a blaze that broke out in the early hours near the village of Araxos in western Achaia, in the Peloponnese.
A team of 16 firefighters, manning eight engines, were involved in the effort to put out the fire, with the help of two water-dropping aircraft.
A larger contingent battled a big blaze on forestland in the area of Seta on the island of Evia.
A total of 52 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and 22 fire engines were deployed.
