Three teenagers held for brutal attack on migrant workers
Three teenagers were arrested on Thursday in connection with a brutal attack last Saturday against two Pakistani migrant workers in the industrial zone of Aspropyrgos, west of Athens.
Two of the suspects are aged 17, while the other is 18.
According to police in western Attica, all three subscribe to far-right ideologies, but there was no evidence linking them to the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party or other right-wing extremist groups.
Police found bats and other incriminating items in a search of their homes.
All three – ethnic Greeks from the former Soviet Union – have reportedly been in trouble with authorities in the past due to violent behavior, with at least one incident motivated by racist ideology.
One of the arrested suspects was identified by the migrant workers as one of their attackers. All three suspects have reportedly confessed to carrying out the attack.
