Two arrested in Rhodope for trafficking undocumented migrants
Police in Rhodope prefecture in northern Greece have arrested two Bulgarian nationals who were found to be smuggling 54 undocumented migrants, 52 Syrians and two Somalis, into the country.
The two men, aged 38 and 36, were slapped with human trafficking charges when they faced a prosecutor in Rhodope on Thursday. During the arrest, police also confiscated two vehicles, 100 euros in cash and five mobile phones.
Earlier this year two suspects, also from Bulgaria, were arrested in the same region for human trafficking when they were caught smuggling 14 migrants in a special compartment in the roof of their truck.
