Ex-mayor gets 15 years for fraud

A former mayor of the island of Elafonisos, off the southern coast of the Peloponnese, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Kalamata Appeals Court after being found guilty on multiple counts of fraud involving public funds.

Bail has been set at 30,000 euros. The case involved 14 contracts for the sale of public land on Elafonisos, and 13 other people face charges for their involvement in the transactions.
