Fatal car crash in Halkidiki kills two

A 43-year-old woman and her 76-year-old mother-in-law were both killed instantly Wednesday when the pickup truck being driven by the former collided head-on with another vehicle on the section of the national road network connecting Thessaloniki with Halkidiki.

The crash occurred near the junction for Palaiohori in the early afternoon, according to traffic police, who did not determine the cause of the incident.

The 51-year-old driver of the other car and his passenger, a 43-year-old woman, were hospitalized with injuries that were said not to be life-threatening.
