Man stopped at Thessaloniki airport with half a kilo of heroin in his stomach

Police on Tuesday detained a 50-year-old Portuguese national at Thessaloniki’s international airport after determining that he had tried to smuggle nearly half a kilogram of heroin into the country in his stomach.
The 50-year-old arrived at Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Airport on a direct flight from Istanbul, according to police sources who indicated that authorities had already been tipped off about his activities.
The man had swallowed a total of 40 packages containing just over 494 grams of the drug, sources said.
