Hospitals in central Greece robbed

After the robbery at Aghios Savvas Hospital in Thessaloniki last week, three more were targeted over the weekend in the central Greek towns of Larissa, Lamia and Volos.

As in the previous case, the robbers targeted expensive medical equipment. Authorities at Larissa University Hospital said that two colonoscopes and two gastroscopes, valued at 15,000 euros, were stolen from the gastroenterology department. But, they added, the cost to replace them with new ones is estimated at 80,000 euros.

The Achillopouleio Hospital in Volos said that 30,000 euros’ worth of equipment was stolen from its gastroenterology department, while officials at Lamia Hospital said that diagnostic equipment had gone missing from its bronchoscopy laboratory, as well as two colonoscopes and one gastroscope from its gastroenterology department.
