Greek hospital doctors announce 48-hour strike
Greek hospital doctors have announced a 48-hour strike on May 17 and 18 in response to the “unpopular measures” included in the recent deal between the government and the country’s international creditors.
In a statement, the Federation of Greek Hospital Doctors (OENGE) said that the country’s “fourth bailout is at the gates” and accused the government of “hammering the people” in order to help big business interests.
Bus routes will also be disrupted due to intermittent work stoppages on May 16, 17 and 18. Greece’s two largest public and private unions, GSEE and ADEDY, have announced a nationwide 24-hour-strike on May 17 as well.
