City of Athens and church to deepen cooperation
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis and the head of the Church of Greece, Archbishop Ieronymos, Thursday signed a memorandum of cooperation on “social solidarity and cohesion.”
The two men did not go into detail about how the bodies would cooperate, but Ieronymos said that “there are various areas in which there is a need for us to cooperate, such as welfare and love, as well as development programs.” “After all, we have a duty to cooperate wherever we can,” he added.
Kaminis revealed that City Hall is examining proposals made by the Church for schemes that would be eligible for European Union funding.
