Soccer fan clinically dead after last week’s clashes
Doctors at the Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki said on Wednesday that a 24-year-old PAOK soccer club fan who was injured during street clashes with Panathinaikos supporters last Thursday is brain dead.
“Unfortunately, I was informed by doctors overseeing the situation of the 24-year-old that he is brain dead. His parents have been informed,” the hospital director Konstantinos Emanouilidis told local news website Voria.gr.
According to reports, the victim was run over by a car as he attempted to avoid an attack by Panathinaikos supporters shortly after the end of the second leg of the Greek Cup semifinal.
