Icons stolen from Epirus church
Eleven icons were reported stolen Tuesday from a church in a remote village on the Greek-Albanian border.
According to reports from Argyrohori village, which lies in the Pogoni region of northwestern Greece, locals only realized on Tuesday that the icons were missing from the Church of Aghios Nikolaos, and investigators suggested that the theft could have taken place at any time in the last two weeks.
The churches in this sparsely populated region of the country are, reportedly, regularly targeted by robbers.
