Sex-trafficking ring busted in Athens suburb
Police said Tuesday that they have unraveled a sex trafficking gang and arrested two of its members – a 48-year-old Greek and a 36-year-old Albanian – in Glyfada, southern Athens, and in western Attica. Police are also looking for a 30-year-old Albanian woman.
According to the investigation, the 48-year-old would locate women with financial problems through the internet and convince them to come to Greece with the promise of a job. Upon their arrival in Greece, they were housed in an apartment in Vouliagmeni, southern Athens.
The women would then be threatened with violence and forced to work as prostitutes in brothels around the capital. Both suspects appeared before a prosecutor yesterday.
