Greece condemns killing of Russian ambassador in Turkey
Greece condemned the killing on Monday of Russian Ambassador in Ankara Andrei Karlov by a lone gunman at a photography exhibition.
“Greece unequivocally condemns the heinous murder of Russia’s Ambassador to Turkey. Sincerest condolences to his family&friends,” the Greek Foreign Ministry wrote on its Twitter account, before publishing its official announcement.
Karlov was giving a speech when the gunman fired multiple shots, killing him. According to The Associated Press, the gunman shouted, “Don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria!” in Turkish, referring to Russian bombardments that have helped drive rebels from areas they had occupied for years during the war.
