Special guard suspended after accosting, threatening Libyan man
A special guard with the Greek Police has been suspended from duty after allegedly accosting and threatening a Libyan man in downtown Athens in the early hours of Sunday.
The 26-year-old off-duty officer was under the influence of alcohol when he allegedly approached two young men on Kerameikou Square and demanded that one of the pair come with him. The special guard pulled out his service revolver and made threats when the man refused to follow his orders.
The special guard was arrested after the two men managed to disarm and immobilize him.
An investigation into the officer’s actions is under way and will determine what disciplinary measures he will face.
