Tsipras, Merkel discuss Cyprus, Turkey, refugee agreement over the phone
Greek PM Alexis Tsipras and German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a conversation over the telephone on Thursday, the Greek premier's office said in a statement.
According to Greek authorities, Tsipras and Merkel discussed the European Union’s relations with Turkey in light of recent developments regarding the Cyprus issue as well as the implementation of an EU-Turkey agreement regarding refugees.
The two leaders also discussed Turkey’s “escalating aggressive rhetoric,” the statement said.
Tsipras and Merkel agreed to remain in contact the statement concluded.
