Survey shows most Greeks divided over snap polls
Nearly nine in 10 Greeks (88 percent) believe “things are going in the wrong direction,” according to the findings of an opinion poll carried out by Public Issue. Even supporters of leftist SYRIZA are disenchanted, with 73 percent saying they believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.
Respondents were split over the prospect of snap polls, with 45 percent in favor and 53 percent against. Only 22 percent of respondents said Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is the best choice for leader, with 42 percent favoring New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
