Greek notaries set to continue first-home foreclosures boycott
The union representing Greek notaries on Tuesday called on its members to continue their boycott on foreclosures of first homes at courts on Wednesday.
The union, which called for the boycott following vehement protests at a Thessaloniki courthouse in early October that prompted the intervention of riot police, repeated calls on the government to clarify the legal situation regarding repossessions, especially relating to primary residences, “to ensure the legality and smoothness of the proceedings.”
The government has pledged to protect primary residences for those with bank loans but there are no reassurances for those with debts to the state, the union said.
