Man sentenced over fatal Halkidiki nightclub shooting
A Thessaloniki court on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old ethnic Greek from Georgia to life and an additional 55 years in connection with a fatal brawl that took place outside a nightclub in Halkidiki, northern Greece, in July last year.
According to witnesses’ testimony, the 30-year-old started arguing with three men, apparently over a woman, before leaving the scene, returning with a gun and firing at the people gathered outside the club.
He killed a 34-year-old man and injured the latter’s 40-year-old brother, the 45-year-old manager of the nightclub and a 29-year-old patron.
