Tsipras: Time for lenders, Germany to keep promises on Greek debt
Greece was the last bastion of stability in a region facing multiple crises and it was time for lenders and Germany to keep their promises regarding the country’s debt, so that a positive signal is transmitted to markets and investors, Greek PM Alexis Tsipras told France 24 in a televised interview on Friday.
Asked to comment on the coalition government’s low ratings in recent opinion polls, Tsipras noted that last year, although his party appeared to be losing ground in surveys conducted prior to two general elections and one referendum, SYRIZA eventually emerged as the winner on all three occasions.
The most “crucial opinion poll” was going to take place at the “ballots in 2019,” he added.
