Prosecutor charges 14 over hospital fire that killed three patients
An Athens court of first instance prosecutor on Wednesday brought criminal charges against 14 members of the capital’s Dafni psychiatric hospital staff in connection with a fire in September 2015 that led to the death of three patients.
According to the charge sheet, the 14 employees – who include doctors and administrative staff – had been aware that shortfalls in the hospital’s administration meant there was a risk of fire breaking out but had failed to take remedial action.
The staff face charges of causing arson, grievous bodily harm and general damage.
