Robbers break into Ikea store to steal ATM
Four hooded robbers on Monday night broke into the Ikea homeware and furnishings store near Athens International Airport in Spata, northeast of the Greek capital, and made off with an ATM, police said on Tuesday.
The robbers allegedly broke into the store’s central doorway and removed a Piraeus Bank ATM, which they loaded into their getaway car.
Police located the vehicle a few hours later, abandoned in the nearby suburb of Pallini. The ATM was in the car but was empty, as the robbers had stripped of its cash. The exact amount of their loot was unknown.
