Migrant squat in Exarchia firebombed; no injuries reported
Unidentified assailants in the early hours of Wednesday ignited two gas canisters at the entrance of an abandoned building in the central Athens neighborhood of Exarchia that is being used by squatters to host migrants and refugees.
No one was injured in the 4 a.m. attack, as firefighters promptly put out the blaze caused by the blast.
The group that has organized the squat on the corner of Notara and Kountouriotou streets has called a meeting for Wednesday afternoon to discuss the attack and what may have motivated it.
The squat is home to dozens of migrants and refugees, mostly families with young children.
