Greek anarchists Sakkas and Seisidis sentenced
Costas Sakkas, an alleged member of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group, and Marios Seisidis, an anarchist and bank robber who had been on the run for years, were sentenced to 33 and 32 months respectively on Thursday.
Both had been arrested earlier in the month following a random inspection by members of the Greek Police’s motorcycle-riding DIAS squad near the town of Sparta, in the Peloponnese.
A court found them guilty of resisting arrest, stealing the car they were traveling in when they were arrested, and forging its license plate as well as their IDs.
Both men claimed they were punched and kicked by the arresting officers who also, they claimed, open fired at them before their car stopped.
