Firefighters battle flames near Argos, Volos and Karditsa
Firefighters were battling to contain a fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon near Argos, close to Nafplio in the Peloponnese, though there was said to be no threat to residential areas.
A total of 30 firefighters, manning 10 fire engines, were involved in the effort, aided by two water-dropping aircraft.
Another two fires that broke out earlier in the day near Volos and Karditsa in central Greece had been doused by nightfall.
