Businessman target of vicious mugging on Crete

Police in Iraklio, Crete, were on Tuesday seeking the two perpetrators behind the violent mugging of a 74-year-old businessman on Monday night.

The man, who is the owner of a water park at the resort of Hersonissos, had just driven home home with his daughter when two assailants got off a motorcycle outside the residence, attacked him and grabbed his briefcase, which is said to have contained a large sum of cash.

The businessman was transferred to hospital with head injuries, according to local reports which did not determine the severity of the wounds.

His daughter was unharmed.
