Customs officers seize forged euro coins destined for Germany
Customs officers at the border crossing in Kipoi, northern Greece, on Thursday discovered over 27,000 forged 2-euro coins in a car with German license plates.
The contraband was found in the car’s trunk, hidden under large tins of olive oil and olives.
The vehicle’s driver, a Turk who lives in Germany, was arrested, while police said that he is suspected of belonging to a large currency forgery network that is under investigation by Interpol.
