One arrested, three sought over downtown Athens forgery workshop
Police in Athens on Tuesday raided a makeshift workshop where forgeries of official documents were produced in the neighborhood of Kypseli, arresting a 27-year-old Romanian national believed to have been instrumental in running it and seeking another three suspects – from Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan – in connection with the operation.
The 27-year-old faces charges of forgery and facilitating illegal entry and exit from the country.
The ring is believed to have forged all types of travel documents and to have charged customers between 500 and 1,200 euros.
The raid on the Kypseli workshop turned up two laptops, two printers, a plethora of passport photos of would-be customers and several stamps.
