Two in three Halkida businesses not issuing receipts, raid reveals

A crackdown by officers of the Financial Police and the General Secretariat for Public Revenue carried out on Monday in Halkida, north of Athens, revealed that two in three businesses were not issuing receipts.

An unusual case relates to a car-repair shop that was operating in the evenings as a nightclub.

Officials carried out their inspection while the business was hosting an event in its garden, which covers an area of 1,000 square meters, with the participation of around 1,000 revellers as well as celebrities whose identities were not divulged, sources said.
