Parliament starts debating ND proposal for committee to probe gov’t, capital controls
Parliament on Tuesday started debating a proposal by the conservative opposition New Democracy for the creation of an investigative committee to probe the government's actions during the first half of 2015 when leftist SYRIZA clashed with the country's creditors and led Greece to the brink of a Eurozone exit and capital controls.
ND also wants to probe the circumstances leading up to the government's signing of a third bailout for Greece and the need for a new recapitalization of Greek banks.
In the afternoon, both ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras are to address Parliament.
The debate is to conclude at 9 p.m. on Tuesday before a vote is held on whether to create a committee.
