National, suburban railway services to resume Tuesday as strike is suspended
Service on Greece’s national and suburban railways (Proastiakos) was expected to resume on Tuesday following a decision by Trainose unions to suspend a series of continuous rolling strikes originally set to halt operations through Thursday.
The decision to suspend the strike action was reached following a meeting between unionists and officials from Greece’s privatization fund, TAIPED, regarding an agreement on employees’ collective contracts.
A 45-million euro bid by Italy’s state-owned Gruppo Ferrovie State Italiane for the sale of Trainose was accepted by TAIPED’s board last week.
Commercial services were also expected to resume on Tuesday, while Trainose unions were set to reconvene on Friday.
