City of Athens to open air-conditioned spaces to public

Athens City Hall announced on Friday that it would be operating nine air-conditioned venues around the capital for citizens seeking refuge from high temperatures.

The venues will remain open until 6 p.m. daily.

The National Meteorological Service yesterday reported highs of 38 Celsius (100 Fahrenheit) in Athens, saying that while there will be a small dip in temperatures over the weekend, the heat wave will continue next week.
