Afghan man killed in violent clash between refugees at Athens reception center
An Afghan man was fatally injured in a violent clash on Thursday evening at a reception center for refugees and migrants in Elliniko, on Athens’s southern coast.
According to preliminary reports, the unnamed man was stabbed and beaten during a fight with a group of fellow countrymen. He died a few hours later at the Asklipeio Hospital in nearby Voula, with doctors saying that he had suffered extensive head trauma.
Another two migrants involved in the clash that took place in the premises of the former Athens airport are receiving medical care for minor injuries.
Police were immediately dispatched to the scene in force, while an investigation is under way.
