Moroccan man arrested at Lesvos hot spot for knifing countryman
Police at a refugee and migrant processing center, or hot spot, on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos on Monday arrested a 27-year-old Moroccan man for allegedly knifing and injuring a fellow countryman, aged 24.
According to police, the suspect attacked the victim in order to rob him. Both men were residents of the migrant reception center of Moria, where overcrowding and sluggish progress in processing have resulted in an increase of tension.
Tension has also been high at the migrant facility on the island of Leros, where migrants and refugees have clashed with authorities in demand that they be allowed to continue their journey to Western Europe.
