Strike to halt railway services Tuesday
There will be no national or suburban (Proastiakos) rail services in Greece on Tuesday as staff step up their protest action against the privatization of railway operator Trainose.
The walkout will also halt metro services between Doukissis Plakentias metro station and Athens International Airport.
The union representing railway staff called the action after Italy’s Trenitalia lodged a bid for Trainose. Workers are also demanding the signing of a collective labor contract.
They are to stage a demonstration outside the offices of the Transport Ministry on Mesogeion Avenue at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
