Santorini island to get hospital in days
Santorini is due to get a new hospital, replacing the smaller health center on the Cycladic island, in the next few days.
Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis visited the island Wednesday and announced the hospital would open its doors on July 18, three days after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras inaugurates the new building.
Just over 100 staff will work at the hospital, compared to 35 who are employed at the health center.
However, many of the extra employees have encountered difficulties in finding accommodation due to the high rental prices on the island.
Polakis pleaded with local property owners to show understanding for hospital staff looking for somewhere to stay.
