Five arrested for migrant trafficking
Police in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, have arrested five suspects on charges of migrant trafficking following a police operation in the area of Stavroupoli.
The suspects – four foreign nationals aged 26, 34, 38 and 52 – and a 49-year-old Greek, had organized the transport by bus of 87 migrants, including 46 children, to the Greek-Albanian border, charging 5,000 euros per person.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old Greek was arrested on Saturday in Evros in the northeast for allegedly transporting four undocumented migrants from Pakistan.
