Deportee slips out of police custody in Serres

Police in Serres on Wednesday were seeking a 27-year-old Algerian man who escaped from custody during his transfer from a border reception center to a police precinct in the northern Greek city.

The Algerian was being transferred along with another four migrants ahead of their planned deportation.

The suspect jumped out of the police van when it had stopped at traffic lights and fled across farmland.
