Wednesday’s railway strike postponed, but Tuesday’s proceeding as planned
Workers on Greece’s national railway and Proastiakos suburban railway decided on Tuesday to postpone a 24-hour strike scheduled for the following day.
The union representing railway workers said that it decided to put off its action after it was informed of a hold in plans to put the company up for sale.
Tuesday’s stoppages, however, continue as planned, with workers walking off the job in the morning and then again from 1-4 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to midnight.
The action is affecting the connection between the metro and Athens airport, so travelers are advised to use the airport bus service instead.
