Boy killer is released into parents’ custody

A 14-year-old boy who has admitted to stabbing a classmate to death in a village near Thessaloniki on Saturday was granted conditional release on Tuesday after testifying for two-and-a-half hours before an investigating magistrate.

The magistrate deemed that the boy could be released as long as he sees a psychologist and his parents assume responsibility for any transgressions.

Greek law does not allow minors aged under 15 to be remanded in custody.

The boy allegedly admitted to stabbing his classmate in the neck. He claimed to have been bullied by the victim because his family is poor.
