Railway employees to stage series of work stoppages
Greece’s railway services are expected to face disruptions in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patra on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday due to strike action called by the country’s railways operator Trainose and rolling stock maintenance provider Rosco.
Services affected by the rolling stoppages include intercity trains, suburban railway services in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patra, services to and from Athens International Airport.
Bus services between Kiato and Patra will also be disrupted. Staff are expected to walk off the job from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., 1 to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Further industrial action is set to affect the same services at the same times on June 21, while unions have also called for a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, June 22.
