Officer shoots himself in the stomach

A 53-year-old police officer was in a serious condition in a hospital in Trikala, central Greece, on Friday after shooting himself in the stomach under circumstances that remained unclear.

The officer shot himself with his service revolver shortly after 10.30 a.m. while on duty. Authorities were seeking to determine whether it was an accident or an attempted suicide.
