Church vandals in Crete get nastier
A parish on the island of Crete is reeling after unknown assailants defecated in a church and smeared icons and the interior with feces.
The assailants smeared 13 icons in the Church of Zoodochou Pigis in Iraklio and used charcoal to write (in Greek) “This one’s courtesy of Zeus” and other anti-Christian slogans.
It was said to be the latest in a series of similar acts of vandalism against churches on Crete believed to be the work of members of pagan religions.
