No trains on Thursday due to 24-hour strike
The Kifissia-Piraeus electric railway (ISAP) and the Proastiakos suburban railway will not be operating on Thursday due to a 24-hour strike by Hellenic Railway Organization (OSE) engineers to protest plans to privatize Trainose, the operations arm of OSE.
The engineers are also demanding that new staff be hired to cover personnel shortages. The strike will affect night routes on Wednesday too.
“At a time when rail companies are under public control or re-nationalized in all advanced European countries, the Greek government is pushing for the privatization of Trainose and is ignoring all those who say that it will threaten the country’s recovery and pricing policies regarding weaker social classes,” the workers said in a statement.
