Bus drivers join metro, ISAP workers in Thursday stoppage
Bus drivers on Tuesday said they would be joining their counterparts on the Athens metro, ISAP electric railway and tram for a Thursday afternoon stoppage, held to allow unionists to meet and decide on fresh action to protest government privatization plans.
There will be no fixed-track services on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Buses and trolley buses will be pulled out of service for an hour longer, until 5 p.m.
The workers’ unions will call general assemblies during the stoppage to decide on what action they should take after the relevant transport companies were included on a list of state assets that will be managed by a new privatization fund and may be put up for sale.
