Transport workers stage protest, mull further strikes over privatization fears
Employees of the Greek capital’s transport companies staged a sit-in protest at the offices of STASY, which manages all fixed-track modes of public transportation in Athens.
The employees are protesting plans to transfer the public transport companies in the new privatisation fund that will be created based on legislation approved by Parliament on Sunday.
There were strikes on the metro, tram, trolley buses and buses in Athens over the weekend. Unionists are due to meet on Monday afternoon to decide whether to take further action in the days to come.
