Golden Dawn trial to resume next week after five-month hiatus
The criminal trial of Golden Dawn politicians and supporters is to resume next week, most likely on Wednesday, after a five-month hiatus following disputes over proceedings and venue, it emerged on Friday.
The Athens Bar Association, whose members have been on strike in protest over austerity since January, said on Friday that it had accepted a request by the prosecution for the proceedings to resume.
The trial of the entire leadership of Golden Dawn and dozens of supporters of the neofascist party implicated in crimes attributed to GD face a string of criminal charges.
The proceedings are expected to resume at a makeshift courtroom in Korydallos, western Attica, despite protests by local authorities and residents.
