PM travels to Thessaloniki for natural gas pipeline inauguration ceremony
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras traveled to the northern port city of Thessaloniki on Tuesday to attend the inauguration of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) that is scheduled to take place later the day.
The project will connect the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) with the Italian natural gas network and allow natural gas from the Caspian Sea to be transported to Western Europe.
Several dignitaries from Albania and Italy, who are part of the project, will attend the event, along with European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic and officials from the US State Department.
The $45 billion project represents the biggest foreign investment that has ever taken place in Greece.
